Home About Us
Sustainable development- with its three constituent parts: environmental, economic and socio-political sustainability- is arguably the only way to successfully improve the living conditions of the underprivileged. Charitable handouts and aid alone cannot propel the poor out of the perpetuating poverty they were born into. Providing education, health services, social and economic awareness and developing their handicraft abilities empowers the poor by reducing their vulnerability, and offers them opportunities to improve their lives.

We always strive to revise Stabl Antar Dream Project’s objectives, guided by the inhabitants themselves and driven by their hope and belief in our work. We aim to construct a development project framework for other development agencies to benefit from and emulate if they wish.Shantytowns and unplanned neighbourhoods, which make up almost 45% of Greater Cairo, represent one of Egypt’s large and serious problems, contributingto several social, behavioural, economic, security problems and health risks. Stabl Antar and Ezbet Kheir-allah arealso one of the main sources of street children. After many field visits, research and meetings, Stabl Antar andEzbet Kheir-allah areas were chosen to be the main focus of theProject.

Who We Are ?

Stabl Antar Dream Project was formed as a direct result of concentrated and determined volunteer efforts, moved by what they witnessed in Stabl Antar community. Since the volunteers’ first visits to the area, they have become committed to bring about a real change in the living conditions of the residents who survive far below the poverty line.    In 2006, founder of Stabl Antar Dream Project, Ghada Gabr, joined efforts with other volunteers to form Sohbet Kheir NGO. Sohbet Kheir Cooperative (SKC) is a non-profit NGO committed to developing and improving the quality of life of Egypt’s poor. All board members are highly qualified professionals with extensive experience in the development field, whether through their work background in local and international development organisations or through their extensive involvement in local civic organisations. The seven board members are Maha El-Daly, Ghada Gabr, Mohammad Khaled Amr, Amr Abbass, Iman Al-Amir, Hala Agha and Mohammad Obaida.
